West China Hospital
West China Hospital of Sichuan University (Sichuan University) is a national center for the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical critical
illnesses in western China. It is also the world's largest comprehensive single-point hospital. It has the largest medical test center in China and the
earliest to pass the American Society of Pathologists (CAP) overall examination and approval.
West China Hospital originated from the Renji and Cunren Hospitals founded in Chengdu by the Christian Church in the United States, Canada, the
United Kingdom and other countries in 1892; in 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out in full swing, and Central University, Yenching University,
Qilu University, Jinling University, and Jinling Women's Arts and Sciences College moved to Chengdu and jointly run schools and medical institutions
with West China Xiehe University; in 1938, BGU, CUHK, and Qihe University, which had medical schools, formed a joint hospital; in 1946, West China
Xiehe University Hospital was fully built at its current site, referred to as West China Hospital.
According to the information on the hospital's official website in December 2015, the hospital's operating campus covers an area of more than 500
mu and has more than 600,000 square meters of business premises. It has the Chengdu Guoxue Lane headquarters and Wenjiang Medical Campus,
which is fully managed by Chengdu Shangjin Nanfu Hospital (referred to as "Shangjin Branch"). The service functions of each campus are clearly
positioned: 4,100 beds in the hospital are mainly used to diagnose and treat difficult and critical diseases; 200 beds in the Wenjiang Campus, which
are mainly used to treat rehabilitation, tumors and chronic diseases.
West China Hospital of Sichuan University ranked first in the country in the total score of the social contribution rankings of public hospitals in China
released in 2015. It ranked second in the country for five consecutive years in the ranking of the best specialist reputation and best hospitals at Fudan
University. It has been selected as the top ten in the country by independent third-party surveys and the top ten in the top ten in the "Most Popular
Grade A Hospital in the Country" and the top ten in the "Best Employer of Medical Institutions" for many years.
